NY State counties represented in the North Country are St. Lawrence, Jefferson, Lewis, Franklin, Clinton, Essex, and Hamilton). The North Country is along the US/Canadian border with access to international shipping ports along the St. Lawrence River. The natural resources are abundant, and multiple renewable energy sectors are represented and growing (Biomass, Solar, Wind). Fort Drum is located within the region and is the country's largest army military base and defense community. The potential for businesses to move or develop here is vast, and the benefits are endless. The cost of living is significantly lower than the national average, and the businesses that move up here stay up here. There is also access to cheap municipal power. There are many opportunities for the entrepreneurial spirit to come work and play with all four beautiful seasons to enjoy. The North Country used to have major plants up here like GM and Reynolds back in their heyday and before outsourcing production. Now is the best time to refocus efforts to support and create job growth in this region.
